VW's Cheapest Electric SUV Steps Out Almost Undisguised | Carscoops
The ID.Cross prototype has been spotted again, this time with hardly any camouflage, revealing a lot of its design.
VW's attempt to disguise the electric SUV with clever tape tricks has failed, as the EV details are now obvious. The ID. Cross mirrors the concept car's shape, with a bluff nose, tight overhangs, and a tucked tail. The C pillars are still partially hidden, but the production doors are now almost fully exposed.
The ID. Cross is likely to get a 208 hp motor and 52 kWh battery from the ID. Polo, which was detailed ahead of its debut next year. The Polo EV has a 280-mile range with a 52 kWh battery, and a 37 kWh pack is also available.
The interior will feature an 11-inch freestanding digital gauge cluster and a 13-inch tablet touchscreen with ChatGPT-powered AI assistance, similar to the concept car displayed at the Munich auto show.
VW is considering adding a 223 hp motor to the Polo to create an electric hot hatch, potentially called the ID. Cross GTI. The ID. Cross will share its MEB platform and hardware with the ID. Polo, and the production version is expected to debut in 2026.
