The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia are thrilled to announce the 3rd edition of the IGAD Media Awards, taking place in Addis Ababa from November 28-29, 2025. This prestigious event, themed 'Storytelling for Climate Action: For a Secure, Resilient, and Stable Region', aims to celebrate and recognize the invaluable contributions of journalists and media professionals in the Horn of Africa. Their work highlights the region's resilience and innovative solutions in the face of climate change, inspiring action and fostering a sense of unity. The awards will bring together regional leaders, journalists, partners, and innovators to showcase the power of storytelling as a catalyst for positive change and resilience. This year's edition is made possible through the support of Pulse of Africa, a leading media house promoting authentic African narratives, and Exim Bank, a Pan-African financial institution dedicated to regional and continental development. Ethiopia, a proud host, is committed to climate action and environmental stewardship, as evidenced by initiatives like the Green Legacy. By supporting journalists and storytellers, Ethiopia empowers voices that raise awareness, inspire action, and unite the region in the fight against climate change. IGAD, through its Media Awards, shares the belief that storytelling is a powerful force for change. Partnering with the Ethiopian government and private sector allies, IGAD envisions a peaceful, resilient, and sustainable Horn of Africa, where knowledge, innovation, and dialogue drive progress. The awards' jury, comprising 21 distinguished media professionals from IGAD member states, is already hard at work, ensuring a fair and thorough selection process.
